"Omphaloskepsis", Oil on Panel, 24x30 inches, 2020

Omphaloskepsis translates to "navel-gazing". While in ancient Greece this was a meditative practice to contemplate the Self, the term took on a derogatory meaning akin to narcissistic self-absorption in the 18th century. The hope being that this image strikes a balance between these two poles, one of being able to introspect with clarity without falling into the trap of self-involvement.
That we be able to assess our nueroses while maintaining a safe distance from them, all while anchoring ourselves into the illusive nature of reality, and the magnificent underlying greatness of consciousness.

"Mysterium Coniunctionus", Oil on Wood Panel, 2020, 20x20 inches

The union of opposites in our inner spiritual rut. Devotion to the feminine, angelic offerings to a moon over the ocean.

"Cor". Acrylic. 10x12 inches. 2018

Cor represents the etymological phoneme of the heart, el corazon. Cor asks us, and presents us with incentive, to live in the present moment, in the parade of life unfolding between more primitive, and more ethereal realms, and incorporating them both. We have a large bandwidth of experience to adventure as human beings, from carnal instinctual frequencies to angelic like qualities. I like to imagine we are parented by the "universe", "mystery", "God", into qualities of honor and integrity so that we may advance our capabilities and offer support to the Life sustaining and Life enhancing qualities of existence.

This Mountain Fae rings a bell and holds a white flag behind its back. It invites us into the moment to find again our shared unified source as androgenous souls before our differentiations.

Source code presents us with an alternative visual representation of our life, much like the formula and coding that go in to making this website, this image explores the atmosphere of the implications of a more holistic and primordial understanding of our embodied and shared consciousness, as well as our own personal downloads, and mechanisms.  One may begin to look at the substance, and coding of our personal interests, contexts, and habits, in order to know thyself, for the good of all, and to the harm of none.

"Trowar", Appalachian sourced Oil on canvas, 2020.

This piece resonates with the effects of Old Amber. It also speaks to the shared interior apocalypse that may be encountered in ones life’s journey. The central feminine form is reminiscent of Lilith. She comes in both a response and a catalyst to the unearthing of that light which is repressed. The simultaneous act of inner union of opposites is represented by the embracing masculine and feminine at the height of each frame. The frame represents the chain of being from angelic to animal to mineral which all form part of the holistic picture. Each animal symbolizes and narrates a particular frame of mind. Of particular importance is the central figure of the Bull’s Skull. This skull represents the surrender to death of a strong masculine orientation. It is also a prayer for all the bulls and cows that face the brunt of fueling so much of our human systems.

"River of Styx", Acrylic. 2016 16 x 16 inches

Rowing atop the burgeoning unconscious netherworld of both personal and collective source, not daring to look down for too long less the spirits drag the traveler asunder, he persists.
Sometimes in life things get tough, and crazy, the dedication of this painting being the perseverance through "crazy time", that liminal spacetime available to humans rarely, and importantly cyclically as the nadir of our hero's journey, which may often be brought on by the various traumas we endure in this incarnated existence.

Chameleon Spirit Totem, the shapeshifter, a useful technique of observation skills and adaptation, yet without balancing with boundaries and courage, one may become lost in the sauce of collective and personal shadow projections. Also, the path of the Chameleon is a powerful tool for intuiting interdisciplinary connections, yet again this power must be balanced by limiting over speculation and retaining the observation that one may be able to make connections which in reality are rather unrelated, inconsequential or at worst biased, psychotic, and paranoiac.

Briarpatch happens to be a name of the central feminine fairy figure, the vegetal fungal incarnation of an instinctual sexual drive of life. There be fruits in the pure libidinal force, but being an unconscious force of nature, it can be unpredictable, and difficult to integrate. This fairy experiences inebriation from the untethered un-sublimated libidinal force of the feminine, where all of life is ecstatic and wondrous, death, birth and everything in between.
